Is it really April 24

I guess it really is, I almost fell off my chair when I saw my last post was Jan 2!! Ummm wow. I have been stuck in a rut of do I really have anything exciting to say?

What has been going on?? Lets see?

January - I turned 35
- my DH turned 40 and I threw him a little surprise party, it was awesome.
- it was pretty dang cold this month.

February - I started back to work at the Full House Lottery, which I did last year for the 1st time. I love getting a little paycheck every 2 weeks. I like being valued for the work I do there.
- my sister and her family lost everything they had in an apartment fire, thankfully they all got out safely.
- registered K & J for soccer, can't wait til it starts well except the days K & J overlap and DH is working nights and gone by then. We had it so easy the last couple of years LOL.
- still pretty dang cold

March - still working the weekends plus Monday. I love coming home to dinner on the table, my DH is the best.
- my teenager is the best for watching her sisters for me on Mondays till I get home and for cooking supper for her Dad and sisters the Mondays I work. She has matured so much.
- registered the teenager for high school!! Yup already. There were so many options to choose from we got a headache, man if I had been so lucky when I went to high school and just when you think you have it all down pat we have "the three" BAM we needed to choose 3 more alternatives "just in case".
- the snow starts to melt, it disappears quite fast.
- then comes back and disappears again

April - still working (yah I'm loving it LOL)
- a dear family friend passes away, quite peacefully at the age of 86. He is reunited with his Norma. RIP Peter.
- found the "shoes" to go with Morgyn's grad dress the girl is seriously obsessed, it's so cute.
- have had some lovely days, and then some not so lovely days. Mother Nature is kinda confused it seems. But being a Manitoba girl at heart you learn to be prepared and you don't pack away the winter stuff because well Alberta seems to me mirroring Manitoba alot lately.

So that is my little world in a nutshell. Will try and keep up with my sadly neglected blog.

And So Begins Another Year

Yay! We survived the holidays at our house. The last 2 weeks have been so busy it finally caught up to me and I've been the "Nap Queen" the last 2 days. Luckily Bruce was home and entertained the girls while I slugged away sleeping, he is such a good man.

We had a nice quiet New Year's we dined on veggies and dip, cheese and crackers, pickles and olives with some meat. Yumm-O. Easy peasy and the girls loved it. We lit the basement up with candles, who needs a fireplace LOL (I would love one) and watched movies and drank wine. The kiddos even had a bottle of "wine" for themselves. Bliss I tell ya, we also munched on a taco dip I had made earlier.

New Year's Day we made scalloped potatoes and a ham. Yumm-O again LOL. I love scalloped potatoes loaded with onions, mmmmmm. Bruce does not so we made a plain boring one for him and the girls. We then watched the Fox and the Hound 2.

It seems that we've got another deep freeze going on, do I mind that I haven't been out of the house since Tuesday?? Not at all. Tomorrow morning the forecast is call for -41 with the windchill :-0 and then in the next breath it says +2 on Monday, which doesn't coincide with the weather station which says -7?? Weird. I'll take the +2 though. So tomorrow is turkey soup making day, ooooooh I can feel the warmth now.

So how was your New Year's?

This Pretty Much Sums It Up

It's so cold! So very cold -28C/-35C with the winchill. I thought I left this behind when we moved from Manitoba, temperatures hitting -50 with the windchill were not uncommon there. The winter before we moved here we had a month of -50 straight. Ugh.

Am I thankful that there is no school for the next 2 weeks? Heck ya! We can "hibernate". I feel sorry for my heating bill, it's won't be pretty. I will likely need CPR after I open it up.

The bright side? Only 5 more sleeps til Santa comes. Yay!

I've been lost

Lost in a world of Christmas decorating, shopping, baking, concerts, wrapping. The list never ends in December does it? We finally got our tree up last weekend. After we re-assembled and vacuumed our artificial tree (I wish we had taken a before and after picture as it really was a "Charlie Brown tree") we got to decorating. I love lights, the more the merrier in my eyes. So I'm on my side, Bruce is on his side and we are each doing our sides the way we like it. Bruce pushes his lights into the tree, I like mine near the end of the branches. Can you imagine how that looked?? LOL. Interesting! The kids just sat back, watched and laughed. There is nothing more relaxing to me that sitting in a room with just the tree lights on, I miss the real tree smell this year but the budget didn't allow for one.

This being the last week of school before Christmas Break we have concerts for Morgyn and Kamryn. Jillian has her "birthday" party at pre-school. Yup she's excited. This is Morgyns last concert, she has decided not to continue on in band next year. It makes her former band geek Momma kinda sad, but they grow up and make their decisions.

I dragged my poor husband to the mall on Saturday for 3 very long hours. It's a good thing he loves me, I pushed my limits after hour 3 LOL. This is always a hard time of the year for me as I miss my shopping buddy, it was always my BFF and I out there at the weird hours shopping for our families etc. It's when I miss her the most.

We did our Christmas cards a few weeks back, I usually just do the girls pictures. But this year Bruce and I joined in. We invited my Aunt over for a "photo shoot" and then I played with them on fhotoflexer. I love having a teenager who can show you how to do all these fun things. These were my favorites:
